A Special Prayer for Motherless Daughters

As we approach Mother’s Day, my heart and prayers are with all of you that have lost your mom. No matter what your relationship was with your mom, the celebration of Mother’s Day can lay heavy on your heart.

My own mother lost her mother 47 years ago. I asked my mom if she could write a special prayer for all of you treasured ladies who no longer have your moms to celebrate with.

A Special Prayer for Motherless Daughters

“Thank you, Lord, that in your wisdom you ordained motherhood.

All human relationships are a model of how we can relate to you.

We realize, however, that not all mother/child relationships show your love and concern.

Many of us have lost our mothers and feel that loss keenly.

We never forget the love and lessons we gained from them.

Some of our mothers, for any number of reasons, are not here, but YOU are.

The first Biblical appearance of the pre-incarnate Jesus was to Hagar, an outcast.

She gave the Lord the name “The God Who Sees Me.”

Thank you, Lord, that you see me, know me, and never leave me.

We bless you, Lord, on this Mother’s Day for the blessings you have given us through mothers but more importantly through our relationship with you.

We love you. Amen.
