How Do You Spell Love? T-I-M-E
As a daughter of a preacher, I would often hear my dad share this message in his sermons,
“How do you spell LOVE? You spell it T-I-M-E!”
It was a message for all to understand that our most precious gift to give is our time.
With the holiday season officially here, this is a message we can all use.

With the bombardment of advertisements, we can easily adopt a materialist mindset and convince ourselves that only material ‘stuff’ matters. Don’t BUY into this lie.
The gift of our time is the best gift we can ever give. God created us to be connected with each other which means more of our true selves and less of our wallets. Imagine a Christmas season where we spend meaningful time with each other instead of exhausting ourselves to find the right gifts, wrap them, deliver them, and hope the recipients like them.
Now before you call me a scrooge about giving gifts, understand that giving gifts can be very special. Personally, I love gift giving – especially when you find just the right gift for that special person.
BUT, don’t let material gifts be your only focus. Give your time. God, Himself, wants to receive our time much more than He wants our tithes. Even His first commandment to us is to love Him with our heart, soul, and mind. God wants us to give Him the gift of our time. Time to spend with Him, listen to Him, obey Him, and love Him.
Since Jesus is the reason for the season, shouldn’t we give Him what He most wants – ourselves?

We can follow Jesus’ example of giving our time to others. Jesus was never selfish with His time. He loved others by giving them His time.
What a great example for us especially as we enter what is known as ‘the busiest season of the year’.
As we enter a new month, a new season, and a new holiday, why don’t we make the effort to spell love as
T-I-M-E.
