These 4 things are key to live a balanced life

This month we’ve been talking about Balance.

We spoke about redefining the concept of balance and we looked at some things that might be keeping you stuck at always trying to find balance, but never being able to get there.

Today I want to talk to you about the different pieces you need to find balance.

Remember I’m not talking about balance in the tradition sense of the word.

Balance is NOT giving everything in your life equal amounts of time or effort.
Balance is NOT trying to fit everything into your life and burning out because you’re juggling all the balls.
Balance does NOT look the same for everyone.

Balance for you should constantly be changing and evolving as you and your family are changing and growing.
Balance IS figuring out what you want in your life and prioritizing those things.
Balance IS dependant on the season you are in.

Balance for me, is figuring out which pieces I need in my life to thrive and then making room for them.

The first piece that sits at the center of everything, is God. When we look at our faith, He is our foundational piece. He is the one thing that should infiltrate every other area of our lives.

But there are other pieces. Other parts of our lives that gets a piece of our time and attention. These could include family, career, health, fun, friends, community, excercise, travel, basically anything you want to give time to in your life.

These are the 3 pieces I believe we all should prioritize: 

FRIENDSHIP:

We weren’t created to be alone. God created us man and women, He built His church and put us in community. He did this for a reason! God’s word has always told us that friendships are beneficial to our health and now science has caught up and is telling us the same thing. God knows that friendships add value and good health to our lives.

Proverbs 15: 30 “A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24 “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 17:22 “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

FULFILLMENT:

Fulfillment walks hand in hand with purpose.

The Cambridge Dictionary defines “fulfilled” as “feeling happy because you are getting everything that you want from life.” A fulfilled life is sometimes described as being perfectly alive, filled with purpose and satisfaction, involving vision and requiring intensive alignment — highly meaningful, and sought by all.

If we don’t allocate time in our lives to understand what our purpose is, and then to spend time on fulfilling that purpose, our lives feel empty and hollow. That is why it’s so important to make time in your lives for ourselves, to find out who we really want to be and then spend time becoming that person.

FUN:

As busy women, we often say that we don’t have time for fun. I’m talking about being intentional to incorporate fun into every day. Making jokes with our kids, going on a fun outing with a friend, sharing a joke with a colleague.

The KEY to finding balance really lies in figuring out what YOU want out of your life and what God has planned for you.
